WORKSHOPS
The fullness of life in Christ can be compared to a tree that, as it stretches its branches towards heaven, also spreads out its roots even deeper into the practicalities of everyday living. The SFC ICON theme of 'Fullness of Life in Christ' is broken down into two: 'Growing Up' and 'Growing Down', building on the imagery of a tree and the duality of man as body and spirit. Accordingly, this year's workshops generally aim to respond to 'living life to the fullest' in our modern times, in Christ who remains timeless to the human heart.
GROWING DOWN (FULLNESS OF LIFE IN THE COMMUNITY)
1. Gospel of Contemplation 9-4pm (W01)
Are you feeling dry and stagnant, or do you feel like you're running on empty? Deep inside, discover that longing for intimacy with Jesus. Find out how prayer can become your life and life becomes your prayer. At this workshop, learn about the secrets of the mystic saints and how they translate to modern-day living
2. Breaking Free!: Healing from Emotional Garbage 9-12 (W02a) 1-4pm (W02p)
Do you feel like you're carrying around the emotional baggage of a lifetime? You're in a community but deep inside there's something hidden that's been hurting for so long. To live a full life in Christ is to break free! Learn more about how we've been accumulating emotional garbage and how we ourselves have been probably dumping them on others.
3. The Blueprint of your Purpose 9-12 (W03a) 1-4pm (W03p)
It's a daily rat race; and we keep on running. The world talks about success, self-development, freedom and pushes us to pursue them. At work, at home and in our relationships, we desire happiness but what we don't realize is that finding our God-given purpose and what intended us to be is the key to a truly fulfilled life. Find out from the blue-print of your experiences, your talents and joys, what you ought to be doing with your life.
4. THE PINNACLE 9-12 (W04a) 1-4pm (W04p)
Undoubtedly the source and summit of our lives. This is where Christ is present in a sacramental way. Nothing defines Catholicism more fundamentally than our belief in, and reverence for, the Eucharist. Therefore, the devotion to the Holy Eucharist is the queen of all devotions. Our life can never be full and complete without it.
5. The Best 3 hours 9am-4pm (W05)
This workshop talks about how maximize your household meetings in terms of meaningfulness, relevance, relationship building and most importantly as another access point to your constant communication with God. Learn what you can do as a leader/member to ensure that the 3 hours you invest in your household gathering are worthwhile and makes you look forward to the next one.
GROWING UP (FULLNESS OF MISSION)
6. God, Sex and the Meaning of Life 9am-4pm (W06)
It is both a joy and struggle as we journey through life. And, when we struggle, sometimes we ask ourselves, “Who am I? What is the meaning of life? What is my purpose?” God’s plan for us is stamped right into our bodies and understanding this plan will give us clarity of our lives, relationships and the world around us. Based on Pope John Paul II’s “Theology of the Body,” we are called to a deep understanding and living out what it means to be created male and female in the image and likeness of God. Because “we were meant to live for so much more.”
7. Walking the Tightrope of Life 9am-4pm (W07)
You feel overwhelmed by daily responsibilities. You have the feeling that something is missing, something that could make life more pleasant. Your life lacks joy and seems grim and difficult. What you do fails to satisfy your craving for meaning and fulfillment. You'd love to wake each morning filled with enthusiasm for the day's activities, but the truth is you don't. You feel resentful much of the day, with no time for yourself. Learn how to live a balanced life then live the fullness of life Christ wants for each and every one of us.
8. Jesus Calling…. 9-12 (W08a) 1-4pm (W08p)
Live the Fullness of our mission. Take on the challenge to bring Christ to where the singles are. Go the extra mile to know the need of Christ in the Call Centers and dare to make a difference. Boldly and creatively bring the light of Christ in the call centers. Find out how to do it and make the first move. Jesus is calling you.
9. OUR EARTH. OUR HOME.9am-4pm (W09)
Polar ice caps are melting. Sea level is rising. Weather pattern is changing. Our earth is heating up and time is clicking. Although world leaders are trying to help stop global warming, we can do too! Small actions repeated frequently have the most impact! We need to educate ourselves about global warming and how we can play a crucial role in healing our wounded planet. After all the earth is everybody’s responsibility.
10. i CARE 9-12(W10a) 1-4pm (W10p)
Its time to focus on our socio-political responsibility to the country's pressing issues. Being Catholic or SFC specifically, know our community's response or action. This workshop will make you understand your role as electorate and citizen of this country.
